Steel racing plates dr / pb

Kerckhaert
This is the traditional steel race plate for trotters, race horses and yearlings.

The perfect concave design gives optimum grip and is creased all the way through to the heels. The DR give a good sole support without adding extra weight.

The profile of the shoe has been designed in such a way that grip on a racing track is good, combined with a lower chance of injury.

The DR can be supplied with or without clips. With trotters, the DR with a toe clip is often used on the hind legs in combination with a TNC or a TDR. This will achieve the best results from the driving power of the hind legs.
With racing horses, the DR is used on 4 legs because all legs have driving power.

The previous DR 16X8 steel plates have had a makeover for the 2004 season with three important changes introduced into the new design.

► 1: The heels have been redesigned to give a smoother finish but more
importantly the foot surface stays level at the end of the heel, avoiding
sprung heels.
► 2: The nail holes are produced on a new punching system, which results in
a very smooth finish to the foot surface. The shoe is completely level
with clean, open nail holes, which do not need the use of a back pritchel.
► 3: The biggest improvement is the patented radius clip. This is now
produced on the radius clip system, just like the famous Classic and DF
series. The patented radius clip system gives a much better clip because
it is drawn from extra metal leaving the clip on the outside edge of the
shoe. This reduces the amount of wall the Farrier needs to remove, in
order to fit the radius clip. This patented system also leaves more steel at
the toe, giving extra wear and reducing the risk of the shoe spreading.
